The long lay-off showed this weekend as the ladies started slow in a win over Armstrong 41-31. A great effort by Starbury sparked the team. In the second game the ladies played better and beat Burnsville 37-13. Kate , Meghan and Gabby played well in the win. The ladies then played a very fast and aggressive Rogers team in the finals and came up short. In the loss the ladies did learn what they need to work on to get better.

The ladies won the Andover Holiday Classic. In the first game they defeated a Blaine team by a score of 33-31. In this game the ladies were down most of the game. Ari hit a baseline jumper just like we drew it up at the time-out with 15 to play. Blaine then turned the ball over and fouled Julia who hit a FT to seal the win. The teams constant pressure also helped in the win.
The second game the ladies beat Andover 35-14. Kiara had 14 pts. Lauren did a great job rebounding as did Kate. The defense was pretty good.
In the Championship the ladies beat Centennial 39-18. The team forced several turnovers by the pressure they put on the Cougars. All members of the team scored and played such good defense that Dana ran out of her shoe while playing D.
The squad is getting better each day and is looking to beat their Moms in a scrimmage this week.
The girls took 3rd place in the Minnetonka tournament Dec 3-5. The ladies beat a scrappy Blaine team in their first round game. Blaine who played zone most of the game kept it close but the ladies pulled away with an 8 point win.
In the semis they played Farview. Trailing by as many as 13 with 7 minutes to go the ladies fought back and had several chances to win the game but could not get a shot to fall and lost by 3 points.
In the Third place game they beat St. Michael by 8 points. The ladies are working hard and are getting better each time they step on the floor for a game or practice.
The girls won the Osseo/Maple Grove Tournament this weekend. They started out the weekend by beating St. Michael Albertville 40-27. The team then played Edina and won 30-20. The girls then played their best game of the weekend by beating Eastview 32-20. The team played Maple Grove in the Championship and beat them 22-17. The girls have continued to get better each time they step on the floor. Way to go Orioles!
